Phosphophyllite, Rare Twinned Crystals, Bolivia
A nice specimen of rare phosphophyllite from the Machacamarca Mine, Potosi Department, Bolivia. Needs a good cleaning to get the iron oxide off and show it's true beauty.
Phosphophyllite is a zinc phosphate, with a formula of Zn2(Fe,Mn)(PO4)2•4(H2O). It is named after its chemical composition (phosphorus) and the Greek fyllon - meaning "leaf."
Measures 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 x 5/8 inches.
