Plattnerite with Calcite, Ojuela Mine, Mexico
A very nice, large specimen with rare black Plattnerite partially coated by clear to brown Calcite crystals from the famed Mina Ojuela in Mapimi, Durango, Mexico.
Plattnerite is lead oxide, PbO2. It was named for the German metallurgist, K. F. Plattner (1800-1858).
Measures 9 x 7.8 x 5 centimeters.
