Prenhite, Gemmy yellow crystals, Tanzania
A gorgeous specimen of gemmy yellow Prehnite crystals to a max of 0.8 cm. from the Merelani Hills, Lelatema Mtns., Arusha Region, Tanzania.
Prehnite is a basic calcium aluminum silicate, sometimes with some iron. It has a formula of Ca2Al2Si3O10(OH)2. It is named for an 18th century Dutchman, Colonel van Prehn, who first brought specimens to Europe from South Africa.
Measures 3.1 x 2.7 x 1.2 centimeters.
