Pyrargyrite ("Ruby Silver") with Calcite, Mexico
A nice thumbnail cluster of Pyrargyrite crystals with a little associated Calcite from the Reyes Mine, Guanajuato, Mexico.
Pyrargyrite, called 'ruby silver', is silver antimony sulfide, whose composition is Ag3SbS3. The name is from the Greek pyr, "fire", and argyros, "silver", a reference to both it's color and silver content.
Measures 1.5 x 1.3 x 0.8 centimeters.
