Pyrophyllite, 'starburst' Crystals, Graves Mtn., Georgia
A very attractive specimen with groups of radiating prismatic rusty brown Pyrophyllite crystals from Graves Mountain, Lincoln County, Georgia.
Pyrophyllite is Aluminum silicate, with a formula of Al2Si4O10(OH)2.
The name is from the Greek word pyr meaning “fire” and phyllon, "leaf".
Measures 4 1/4 x 2 5/8 x 1 1/2 inches.
