Quartz with Brookite and Chlorite Inclusions, Pakistan
A nice combination specimen, a Quartz crystal with inclusions of Brookite and Chlorite from Kharan, Baluchistan, Pakistan.
Brookite, titanium dioxide, has a formula of TiO2. It is named for Henry James Brooke (1771-1857), English crystallographer and mineralogist.
Chlorite is a name commonly used for undifferentiated members of the chlorite group. While the name "chlorite" once indicated a mineral species, it is now the name of a group of species - there is no longer a mineral named "chlorite."
Measures 3.8 x 2.8 x 1.6 centimeters.
