A very nice hexagonal crystal of purple-red Corundum var. Ruby from Mysore, India. Flouresces neon red under LW UV light.

Ruby is aluminum oxide, with a formula of Al2O3. The name Corundum is from
kuruntam, a Tamil word derived from Sanskrit.

Measures 3.2 x 2.5 x 1.1 centimeters.
