Scolecite, White Prismatic Crystals, India

A very nice large cabinet specimen of white prismatic Scolecite crystals from Poona, India.

Scolecite, hydrous calcium aluminum silicate, has a formula of  Ca[Al2Si3O10}•3H2O.
The name is from the Greek, skolec, "worm" in reference to the mineral's reaction to the blowpipe flame.

 

Measures 7 1/2 x 3 x 2 3/4 inches.
