Scorodite with Pyrite, China
A gorgeous specimen of deep blue Scorodite crystals with associated Pyrite from the Baishichong Village, 40 km S of Hezhou, Guangxi Autonomous Region, China.
Scorodite, hydrated iron arsenate, has a formula of FeAsO4•2H2O. Named from the Greek Scorodion, "garlicky". When heated it smells of garlic, which gives it the name.
Measures 1.6 x 1.3 x 0.7 centimeters.
