A sharp specimen of white prismatic Skorpionite on pale blue Tarbuttite on a matrix of blue-green Hemimorphite from the the type locality for Skorpionite, the Skorpion Mine, Rosh Pinah, Namibia.
Skorpionite is Ca3Zn2(PO4)2(CO3(OH)2·H2O. It is named for its type locality.
Tarbuttite, hydrous zinc silicate, has a formula of Zn4Si2O7(OH)2•H2O. It was named for Percy Coventry Tarbutt, director of the Broken Hill Exploration Co., Zambia.
Hemimorphite, hydrous zinc silicate, has a formula of Zn4Si2O7(OH)2•H2O. The name is from the Greek prefix hemi-, “half”, and morphe, “form”, due to the fact that opposite ends of Hemimorphite crystals often display different crystal forms.
