A beautiful thumbnail specimen of green translucent botryoidal Smithsonite from Touissit, Oujda, Morocco.
Smithsonite is zinc carbonate, with a formula of ZnCO3. It is named for James Smithson (1765-1829), founder of the Smithsonian Institution.
Measures 2.7 x 2.1 x 2 centimeters.
