Topaz, Gem Pink Crystal, Utah

A very pretty thumbnail cluster of gemmy pink Topaz, with the main crystal doubly-terminated from the Wah Wah Mountains, Utah.

Topaz, aluminum fluorsilicate,  has a formula of Al2SiO4(F,OH)2. The name is from the Greek topazos, a name which is said to be applied to a gem whose identity has been lost.

Measures 1.3 x 0.5 x 0.4 centimeters.
