Vanadanite on Descloizite, Tiger, Arizona
A very fine old time specimen from the long-closed mines at renowned Tiger, Pinal County, Arizona. Orange Vanadanite crystals with brown Descloizite.
Descloizite is a lead zinc vanadate, with a formula of PbZn(VO4)(OH). It was named after the French mineralogist, Alfred Des Closzeaux (1817-1897).
Vanadanite is lead chlorovanadate, with a formula of Pb5(VO4)3)Cl. The name is from the mineral’s composition.
Measures 4.3 x 2.5 x 2.3 centimeters.
