Volborthite, rare Green Crystals, Arizona

A sharp specimen of green microcrystals of the unusual copper vanadate mineral Volborthite from the Ridenour Mine, Coconino County, Arizona.

Volborthite is hydrous copper vanadate, with a formula of Cu3V2O7(OH)2•2(H2O). It was named for Alexander von Volborth (1800-1876), a Russian paleontologist.

Measures 7 x 5.3 x 0.7 centimeters.
