Woodhouseite on Quartz with Rutile, California
A nice small miniature specimen of rare Woodhouseite on Quartz with Rutile from the Champion Mine, White Mountain, Mono County, California.
Woodhouseite is a sulfate-phosphate member of the Beudantite group, whose composition is 2CaO•3Al2O3•P2O5•2SO3•6H2O. The name is in honor of Mr. C. D. Woodhouse, the General Manager of Champion Sillimanite, Inc., who was well known as a mineral enthusiast.
