Wulfenite, exceptionally large red Crystals, China
A beautiful specimen with exceptionally large, well-formed crystals from the Kuruktag Mountains, Xingjiang Province, China. I got this specimen from a dealer who visited China and hand-carried this beauty back.
Wulfenite is a Lead Molybdate, with a formula of PbMoO4. The name is in honor of the Austrian mineralogist Franz Xaver von Wulfen (1728-1805).
Measures 5.6 x 4.5 x 3.6 centimeters, largest crystal is 1.7 cm.
