Wulfenite with Mimetite, Large Specimen, Ojuela Mine
A large and beautiful specimen of pale yellow transparent 'window pane' crystals of Wulfenite with green botryoidal Mimetite on a limonitic matrix from the prolific Ojuela Mine, Mapimi, Durango, Mexico.
Wulfenite is lead molybdate, with a formula of PbMoO4. The name is in honor of the Austrian mineralogist Franz Xaver von Wulfen (1728-1805).
Mimetite, lead chloroarsenate, has a formula of Pb5(AsO4)3Cl. The name is from the Greek mimetes, “imitator”, from it's resemblance to Pyromorphite.
Measures 11 x 6.5 x 5.8 centimeters.
